Promotion Associate
previously
titled Health
Education Coordinator
(Whitney Point): Position available
starting September 2010 with the
Rural Health Network of South Central New York. The Health
Promotion Associate
assists
the Director, Health Promotion with priority programs and
initiatives, and other RHNSCNY projects, as required. Priority
health promotion/education projects include: the Simply Health
Wellness Program, the Northern Broome Farmers Market Access
Project, health fairs, and school – community wellness
initiatives.
This position requires someone with strong computer
skills.

Health Care
Access
Associate (Whitney Point):
Position
available starting October 2010 with the Rural Health Network of South Central New
York. The Health Care Access Associate assists uninsured
individuals and families with accessing health insurance,
free/low cost prescription medication to help manage chronic
health conditions, vision services, dental services, etc. The
Health Care Access Associate assists with other health care
access programs and initiatives, and RHNSCNY projects, as
required.
PAP
Program Associate (Binghamton):
Two positions with Upstate Medical Community Free Clinic
beginning September, 2010. Work with patients,
providers, and pharmaceutical companies to complete and submit
PAP (Prescription Assistance
Program) applications. Liaison
with pharmaceutical companies to determine patient eligibility.
Enroll patients, obtain
medications and troubleshoot problems. Must
be available every Monday and
Thursday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Rural Health Associate (Richford):
Position will begin December 2010 with Northern Tioga
Neighbors Network (Richford, N.Y.) and Lourdes Northern Tioga
Center for Family Health. Provide support for both a community
volunteer organization and the Lourdes Hospital primary care
practice in Richford, N.Y.

Local Fresh Foods Access Facilitator (Norwich):
This position will begin October 2010 and involves learning the CNY Bounty local fresh foods
model and system thoroughly by assisting in procuring, packing
and delivering local fresh foods to targeted audiences.
Provide information often through public presentations, and
assist on-going programs on local fresh foods to the elderly,
handicapped and homebound, special needs and low income
consumers in Chenango, Madison & Broome Counties.

Stay Healthy
Kids Associate (Johnson City):
Two positions to
serve as members
of
the Stay Healthy Kids Teams.
Promote the programs of the Stay Healthy Kids Teams with schools
and community agencies. Meet with schools and community
agencies to assist them in becoming Stay Healthy Kids partners.
Seek
ways to continually improve the relationship with schools,
community agencies and individual families.
Work
with United Health Services’ Community Relations Department
personnel to assist in the development of an on going media
campaign to promote Stay Healthy Kids programs.
Provide
leadership to the Mason on the Move program including promotion,
scheduling and onsite programming. Meet with
municipalities and other governmental agencies to promote
community wide environmental changes to promote increasing
physical activity.

Program
Assistant with CHOW Volunteer
Programs (Binghamton):
Assist the Program Director in
planning and implementing the various major food drives for
CHOW. Learn how the CHOW program collects and distributes food
so as to be able to give a brief presentation on CHOW to
businesses and volunteer groups interested in CHOW. The Program
Assistant will also be the contact person for the CHOW staff’s
involvement in various events, at times arranging scheduled
speaking engagements for the Program Director. Some local
travel necessary.

Healthier Lifestyle Mentor Project Coordinator
(Binghamton):
Beginning
December 2010, the RHSC member in this position will be responsible for learning all aspects of the Faith in Action
Volunteers program, coordinating all facets of the Healthier
Lifestyles Mentor project. Included will be recruiting and
training volunteer mentors, matching mentors with clients,
tracking progress of clients, refining project parameters, and
marketing the Faith in Action Volunteers and the Healthier
Lifestyle Mentor project in the community.

Eligibility
Counselor (Binghamton):
Assist uninsured patients served by the Hope Dispensary of the Southern
Tier and Lourdes Hospital in determining health insurance,
prescription assistance, and other services they may be eligible
for. The Eligibility Counselor uses a computerized screening
tool to determine patient eligibility. This position will
start December 2010.

Patient and Family Services Program Associate (Johnson City):
Position will begin December 2010 with the American Cancer Society. Assist the
department in the delivery of survivor related programming
throughout a 10 county area of the Southern Tier of New York.
Specifically, this associate will work to address departmental
objectives focused on increased access to transportation and
other essential quality of life needs of the residents of the
Southern Tier who experience a cancer diagnosis.

The Rural Health Service
Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program administered by
the Rural Health Network of South Central New York. The purpose of
the Rural Health Service Corps is to provide meaningful service and
learning opportunities for young people committed to improving the
health and lives of those living in South Central New York State.
The mission of the Rural Health Network of
South Central New York (RHNSCNY) is to promote and improve the
health of rural communities and strengthen each community's capacity
to respond to health needs by reducing barriers and improving access
and use of health and human services through advocacy, communication
and partnerships." The RHNSCNY serves Delaware, Tioga and rural
Broome County.
