	This is to be negotiated between the employer and the employee. The employer and employee can negotiate to use the employer or the employee’s vehicle.

Provider Description

	GROW, an abbreviation for Gaining Resources for Older Workers, seeks to match workers 55 and older with jobs registered by individuals or families. GROW has workers registered in many categories including as drivers. When an individual calls GROW with a job, GROW then matches the individual with a prospective employee.

	The employer (or a representative for the employer) must be competent to evaluate a potential driver (against any checks that the employer deems necessary but which are likely to include checks of driver’s license and insurance – if using the driver’s car), and to provide instructions and directions to the driver.

Who Is Eligible

Anyone is eligible to hire a driver registered with GROW.

Ride Along Description

	Not Applicable.

Service is provided based on the availability of a driver who is willing to accept the job; this will vary based on the specifics of the job order. All Broome County areas can be served. Employers may hire drivers for transportation outside of Broome County.

Hours

The Broome County Office for Aging is closed for major holidays; this only affects availability of GROW staff to take job orders. Schedules for transportation are arranged between employers and the drivers and are not affected.

Reservation Information

Employers would need to establish their needs with the driver. The amount of notice the driver needs for a trip could vary between drivers. If employers are looking for a driver for one specific trip, they need to call GROW at least one week in advance (earlier is better) so a possible driver can be identified and contact the employer. Once a relationship is established between an employer and a driver, the employer would only need to contact the driver to arrange or cancel trips.

Handicap Accommodations

	Drivers use either their own personal vehicle, or the employer’s vehicle. The employer should specify any special conditions when placing the job order, so that only a driver who is willing and able to accommodate the special request is referred for the job.
